Dr. Bandyopadhyay completed his bachelor studies in Chemistry and Masters in Biochemistry from Calcutta University in 1985 and 1987 respectively. Onwards, he earned his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Indian Institute of Chemical Biology. Thereafter, he moved abroad and joined The Tulane University Medical College at New Orleans, USA, where he worked in the field of diabetes. In 1997, he changed his field to cancer biology and worked in MD Anderson Cancer Centre and then served Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas as a Faculty. In 2006, he returned back to India and joined Zydus group. There he served as a Senior General Manager in the Cell Biology division and in the R&D wing for 17 years. His study in diabetes and cancer earned him more than 50 publications in journals like J. Biol. Chem, Cancer Research, Aging Cell, Oncogene, and other peer reviewed journals. He has also authored chapters in text books like “The Pigmentary System” (Blackwell Publication) and “Current Protocols of Cell Biology”. In Zydus, his research activities orient around diabetes, inflammatory disorders, infective diseases and Covid -19. Presently, he is serving as the Chief Training Officer in ATGC Diagnostics Pvt Ltd.
