Prof. Debabrata (Dev) Mukhopadhyay is currently a Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular biology and also has a joint appointment with the Department of Physiology and Biomedical Engineering at the Mayo Clinic campus in Jacksonville, Florida.

Biography

Prof. Debabrata (Dev) Mukhopadhyay is currently a Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular biology and also has a joint appointment with the Department of Physiology and Biomedical Engineering at the Mayo Clinic campus in Jacksonville, Florida.

Dr. Mukhopadhyay served as Associate Director of Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center for Global Collaboration till 2016. After completion of Ph.D. in Biochemistry at Calcutta University, he joined as a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Microbiology & Immunology at the University of Illinois in Chicago. He further completed another Fellowship in Tumor Biology at Harvard Medical School. As a Postdoctoral Fellow, and later as an Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School, he carried out angiogenesis and tumor microenvironment-related research. Around 2003, he joined at Mayo Clinic Rochester campus as Director of both the Tumor Microenvironment Program and the Translational Nanomedicine Program; he has been supervising additional research areas, including extra vesicular macro-particles and new targeted drug delivery systems. He has published more than 195 peer- reviewed manuscripts in prominent journals, including Nature, Nature Medicine, Cancer Cell, Cancer Research, Nano Letters and other highly rated journals. He has several patents and has been involved in developing startup companies in the area of therapy and diagnosis of the diseases. Recently, he was appointed as the Florida Department of Health Cancer Research Chair to develop a new Mayo Clinic Translational Nanomedicine Center.
