1. Bridging course for life science post-graduate students to biotech industry (2 months course) [Theoretical and hands-on laboratory training]
 

This course will enable you to experience the environment of an industrial laboratory. During the course, you will be exposed to the various techniques needed in the pharma industry. On completion of the course, we guarantee that you will feel more confident in entering the pharma and biotech sector. The details of the course are given below:

This course is essentially designed for fresh MSc and/or PhD students who dream of pursuing their career in the Pharma/Biotech Industries. This course will enable the participants to:

  1. Understand the flow of operations in pharma industries
  2. Realize the difference in setup and expectation between an academic laboratory versus an industry laboratory
  3. Gain Theoretical in-depth knowledge of each procedure
  4. Have hands-on training on the upstream and downstream processes that are essential for Biotech companies

Please find below the outline of the course:

Making serial dilution of a solution using multichannel pipettes and measuring the OD for each solution and drawing a curve. This will make your hands steady and dependable.

  1. Preparing different kinds of buffers and working with pH
  2. Isolation of single colonies
  3. Making competent cells
  4. Transforming competent cells with plasmid
  5. Isolation of plasmid, restriction digestion, and agarose gel running
  6. End-point and Real-time PCR of a given segment starting from primer designing and running the PCR itself
  7. Cloning the amplified fragment in an expression plasmid
  8. Expression of the cloned fragment and analysis of the proteins in SDS-PAGE
  9. Purification of the protein expressed from the given plasmid through affinity chromatography.
  10. Immunological techniques like direct- and sandwich-ELISA

 

2. Bridging course for life science post-graduate students to PhD program (6 months) [Theoretical and hands-on laboratory training]

This program is designed to prepare the students for various international PhD programs. The course is tailored to develop an aptitude for asking research questions, analyzing experimental results, and database analysis. Under this program, students will carry out project work with a specific research question. Through the project work students will learn techniques related to molecular and cell biology, immunology, protein purification, and analysis. They will learn bioinformatic analyses of genomic and proteomic data. Students will be taught how to write good letters, motivational statements, resumes, good presentations, and scientific papers.
